The Supportgroup Undocumented Women has worked since 1995 on improving the position of women without a valid residence document (women without papers). We work for women who have for whatever reason, have become illegal.  Think of victims of women’s trade, women who came here for social economic reasons, women who have applied for a residence permit before and have been denied, and women who ran away from a violent home and who lose their dependent residence permit.

These women, and their children, are in a difficult position and are being excluded from nearly all benefits and help in the Netherlands as a cause of the repressive immigration policy of the government.

We think that the world belongs to everyone. Everyone has the right to settle everywhere they want in the world in safety.

The Supportgroup tries to enforce the position of women without a residence permit on a practical and structural level. The focus is on creating more self reliance. During our weekly visiting times women can come by for information and help in arranging practical matters (accomodation, medical and legal matters, educational possibilities). We are active in creating provisions and creating networks of and for women and where necessary point them to other organisations.

For all of this we need your help! The activities of the Supportgroup are realised by about 12 volunteers. For our expenses (financial support in individual emergencies; information evenings; activities with the women; office costs etc..) we depend on the gifts of individuals  and funds.
